Anxiety is a normal emotion to feel when something new is approaching. Or when you're facing something that has some familiarity but was unpleasant in the past. Anxiety is born from fear of negative outcomes. Kids are likely to experience anxiety about a new school year starting when their expectation is that things are going to be hard, scary, painful or "too much." The problems start when anxiety is not processed and is allowed to derail students' self-confidence and courage. They can struggle to feel comfortable in the classroom, stay focused, learn and participate fully. Even just getting to school can feel totally overwhelming. What can we do about it?? Help your kids change the way they perceive the future, and create a new sense of confidence and optimism! Resilience is something we can help children develop by giving them real tools and skills to handle the unknown with a sense of self-trust and confidence. This one-hour pre-recorded family class (please allow for approximately 90 minutes to pause the recording and complete the activities) is going to help your children face their fears, learn how to name and express their emotions in healthy ways and adopt powerful new strategies to beat those jitters!
