Resilience Week 2026
Monday: I Believe in Me!

What a great first day!!
Your kids are kind, respectful, cooperative, thoughtful and fun! I thoroughly enjoyed our first day of camp and hope your kids did, too! A huge thank you to Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council for doing a fun "Celebrate Me" activity and Ms. Shamberly for her valuable assistance!
Tower of Feetza!
We started the day with a funny challenge to see how tall we could stack our shoes without them falling over!
Red Team won the first round and Purple Team won the second round.

I Believe in Me!
Today's Adventures in Wisdom™ story was about Carl and Mike who come from very different towns. Carl lives in Canville, where everyone is encouraged to learn, try new things, fail and try again, be creative and courageous. While Mike is from Cantville, where the focus is to stay in the Comfort Zone, not try anything hard and give up after the first time something fails.

We talked about how many amazing inventions and wonderful opportunities exist because of people believing in themselves to try new things and try again when it didn't work out the first time -- or first 1000 times!
We drew maps of Canville and discussed how we can be brave, too! It starts with how we think about ourselves and learn to understand our emotions.
Limiting Beliefs versus Supporting Beliefs
This is a powerful activity that I love doing with kids and adults! Some thoughts and beliefs that we have can make us feel scared, uncertain, anxious and discouraged. Those are limiting beliefs and are like a red light on a traffic light. We feel like stopping and giving up.
Examples: "It's too hard." "I can't." "They don't believe in me."

Supporting beliefs are like a green light on a traffic light and give us energy. We feel confident, brave, courageous and determined when we think supporting thoughts like, "I can try." "I can ask for help." "I believe in myself."
The kids noticed how differently these different types of thoughts feel in their body! The fun part was turning limiting beliefs into supporting ones by adding a power statement.
"They don't think I can" but "I believe in myself."
"I don't know how" yet. "I can ask for help."
"It's too hard" but "I can try" and "I will learn."
A visit from ADAC!
"Celebrate Me" Workshop

The kids were invited to fill out a sheet about themselves; what makes them unique, what do they wonder about, what do they hope for, etc. It was a fun opportunity to explore and share a little bit about themselves.
They sure loved their new tumblers and getting to decorate them with all kinds of colorful stickers!
ADAC really went above and beyond with gift bags full of fun things for them!

Group Games
Today we played Coseeki, a funny guessing game, and Coconut-Palm Tree-Pirate, a zany rock-paper-scissors game!
